Facilities with Electronics
Examples of how CFD may be used to evaluate air quality, temperature distribution and ventilation performance of facilities with computing, telecommunications or other large scale electronics.

| Large Scale Super Computer Facility... Shown in violet are the intakes for air conditioning units, ceiling supply diffusers in light blue, and, in light gray are the individual CPUs and disk storage units. An imaginary slice is taken at 4 feet from the floor upon which temperature contours are plotted. The blue colors are coolest and the red colors are the hottest. Through successive changes to the inlet temperatures, floor returns, flow rates, and supply rates, the indoor climate was optimized in terms of temperature uniformity. CFD allows facility designers to optimize their ventilation while saving on both initial and long term costs. |
