Computer Aided Engineering Solutions (CAES)

M/E Engineering’s CAES Group specializes in the use of numerical methods (CFD or Computational Fluid Dynamics) to calculate and visualize air flow both inside and outside buildings. This analysis can be applied to labs, fume hoods, clean rooms, surgical areas and many other building spaces requiring some degree of cleanliness or indoor air quality. Additionally, CAES provides wind wake analysis, wind load calculations, electronics cooling analysis and studies on other classical engineering problems involving fluid flow and heat transfer.

CAD Systems

We utilize Bentley System's MICROSTATION design software to produce high-quality, professional engineering drawings and design files. Compatible with other CAD software including AutoCAD, MICROSTATION's versatility allows us to deliver files in MICROSTATION .DGN, AutoCAD .DWG, PDF and other file formats. Drawings are plotted with digital printing technology to assure quality.

Our state-of-the-art design software includes:

Carrier HAP and Trane Trace 700 - for HVAC hourly analysis and life cycle calculations
Trane TOPSS - for HVAC equipment selection
Bell & Gossett System Syzer - for pump sizing
Cook Compute-a-Fan - for fan sizing
Taco - for pump, heat exchanger and expansion tank sizing
Titus Product Selection - for terminal equipment selection
SKM Power Tools - for electrical system design and analysis
Lumen Micro – for lighting design analysis
MEANS Mechanical/Electrical Cost Estimating Software combined with M/E’s internal database of probable construction costs

Spread Sheets/Word Processing

We use customized calculation software that we share on our corporate intranet. Spreadsheet forms are created utilizing MS Excel 2000 software for project cost estimates, lighting calculations, HVAC calculation sheets and other design requirements. MS Word 2000 software is used for text and construction specifications. Specifications are in CSI format and created from M/E’s extensive master specification system.
