Medeva Pharmaceuticals - Solids & Liquids Manufacturing Facilities
Rochester, NY

Design and construction for 150,000 SF Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Facility at Medeva Pharmaceuticals, Inc.   A majority of the space was designed as "clean" manufacturing space with specialized temperature, humidity, pressurization and filtration requirements to meet pharmaceutical "GMP" requirements.  This project included providing design review, construction cost estimating and  construction management services for Phase I of the project, which included the renovation of 100,000 SF for solids manufacturing and packaging, storage for raw materials and finished goods, and associated shipping and receiving spaces.  During the 100,000 SF construction of Phase I of the project, M/E Engineering was also retained to re-design the 1,200 ton central chilled water and boiler plant originally proposed for the facility.  Phase II of the project included 30,000 SF of renovation and 10,000 SF of new construction to accommodate liquids manufacturing and packaging, coating, solvent recovery and support spaces.  M/E Engineering was retained to provide both design and construction management services for this phase of the project.

Oneida Correctional Facility - Cook Chill Expansion
Rome, NY

The $19,000,000 upgrade and expansion of this 100,000 SF facility allows the production of 252,000 lbs. of food each day.  Under the cook chill process, huge quantities of food are cooked to a just-done state, then chilled rapidly and stored under tightly controlled temperature conditions. OGS Division of Design retained the services of M/E Engineering, P.C. to complete the complex design including items such as an ice building system capable of producing enough cold water to rapidly chill the hot processed food to a nearly frozen state, six cook tanks each having the capability of cooking one ton of poultry per tank per day and eight large kettles having a total capacity of 2,800 gallons, and refrigeration systems for food processing areas.

Westwood Squibb Pharmaceuticals
Buffalo, NY

Design of new 600 HP Process Steam Boiler Plant Upgrade and Pharmacy AHU Replacement.  The steam plant included two fire tube medium pressure boilers and one high pressure steam boiler.  The steam distribution system was modified for reduced steam pressure including pressure reducing stations, control valves and steam traps.  M/E Engineering worked with the City of Buffalo and designed remote monitoring capabilities into the Guard Station for 24/7 observation, which reduced the requirement for an Operating Engineer on third shift.
