M/E Engineering has provided engineering services for over 100 different school districts across New York State. This gives us vast experience working with the engineers at State Education Department, that review our projects. Some of these review comments are not published and are State Education Department interpretations and therefore only learned through experience.

Many of our K-12 Educational Facility Clients have been working with M/E Engineering for over 15 years. Our goal is to develop long term relationships that are based on quality design, knowledge of school district goals and trust.

Albion Central School District Capital Projects
Albion, NY

Additions and renovations for various capital improvements district wide, from 1999 to present.  HVAC, plumbing and electrical design for modifications to the Primary School entrance, Middle School roofing replacements and High School renovations including reconstruction of the Science classrooms, remodeling of the main entrance and office, relighting the football field and press box design.  Capital improvements for a primary school addition, a Middle School addition and renovations and infrastructure and design of air conditioning system for classroom addition at the primary school.  Study of existing campus heating distribution system and recommendations for improvements.  Implementation of piping and pumping modifications for improvements of the Central Boiler Plant hydraulic connection to the Middle School.

 
Aquinas Institute - High School Addition,
Rochester, NY

Visual arts and performing arts classroom addition to the Aquinas Institute High School. HVAC Systems consisted of a central variable air volume unit. Electrical systems included main service upgrade, expansion of the existing PA, clock and intercom system and a theatrical lighting and sound system.

   
AuSable Valley Central School District,
Clintonville, NY

A total of 250,000 SF of Classroom, Science Room and Gym additions and renovations to the High School/Middle School, Keeseville and AuSable Elementary Schools and Bus Garage at AuSable Valley Central School District in Clintonville, New York. The project included air conditioning the High School/Middle School, which required design of a new chilled water plant. The project also included design of a new variable air volume system throughout the High School/Middle School.


 
Batavia Central School District - 2006 Capital
Improvement Plan, Batavia, NY

32,000 SF Addition to the Middle School. Addition included Locker Rooms, Music Suite, Science Classrooms, Fitness Rooms and General Classrooms.

Renovations throughout all three floors of the Middle School. Renovations include Cafeteria, Kitchen, Science Classrooms, Technology Classrooms, Fire Alarm System, Ventilation System, Upgrades and Temperature Control System Upgrades.

Various renovations at Robert Morris Elementary School including Unit Ventilation Replacement, Kitchen Upgrades, Classroom Lighting, Boiler Replacement and Conversion from Steam to Hot Water Heating.

Various renovations at Richmond Library including Boiler Replacement, Air Handling Unit Refurbishment, Air Conditioning System Upgrades, Fire Alarm System Replacement and Water Heater Replacement.



   
Bloomfield Central School District - Bond 00,
Bloomfield, NY

49,000 SF Classroom/Auditorium Addition and renovation to the existing High School and Elementary School. Project included conversion from steam to hot water heating system, central VAV system serving classrooms, DDC controls throughout the school, electrical upgrades, toilet room modifications and theatrical lighting and sound system. Project also included creation of new science rooms/lab.

   
Board of Cooperative Educational Services -
Genesee Valley - 2006 CIP (BOCES), Batavia, NY

Renovations and additions at Batavia and Mt. Morris Campus. Complete phone system replacement including microwave towers, boiler replacement, ventilation system upgrades, toilet room renovations, compressed air system replacement, power distribution replacement, installation of emergency generators and fire alarm system upgrades.

   
Board of Cooperative Educational Services -
Madison Oneida - Addition and Renovations,
Verona, NY

90,000 SF Addition and 24,000 SF Renovation to Madison Oneida BOCES which included classrooms, an auto body shop and security systems.

   
East Rochester Union Free School District - K-12
Campus, East Rochester, NY
Heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical design for a 125,000 Square Foot Addition and Renovation of the existing 125,000 Square Foot Facility for a complete K-12 Campus. Projects included central chiller and boiler plant, two pipe classroom unit ventilation system, pool heat recovery unit, direct digital control, new building electric service, fire alarm system and fiberoptic service and data/computer management.
   
Lewiston-Porter Central School District 
Additions and Alterations - 2007/2008
Renovations and additions to all buildings on the school campus.  Renovations included: technology improvements, security system upgrades, lighting upgrades, expansion of energy management system, fire alarm upgrades, power distribution upgrades, exhaust fan replacement, air handling unit replacement, communication system replacement, domestic hot water heater improvements, and district office relocation.  The project also included a new maintenance building, concession stand and team room facility.
   
Marcellus Central School District - Capital
Improvement Plan, Marcellus, NY

A 36,000 SF addition at the Middle School that includes a Gym with Indoor Running Track, Locker Room, Student Commons Area and General Classrooms.

   
North Rose-Wolcott Central School District -
K-12 Campus, East Rochester, NY

Various renovations and additions including: 10 classroom addition at the High School, 2-story fitness room addition at the High School, pool dehumidification system replacement, conversion of High School multizone AHU to a VAV system, boiler replacement and conversion to hot water, technology and security system upgrades, wireless clock system, temperature control system improvements and water conservation and energy conservation improvements.

   
Perry Central School District, Perry, NY

Upgrades to the existing High School for Life Safety and Code Compliance. Renovations included ventilation and heating systems in classrooms; expansion of existing Media Center, construction of a new natatorium in the location of the old gymnasium and construction of a new gymnasium.

   
Rochester City School District - Multiple Projects
Rochester, New York

M/E Engineering has a long standing relationship with the Rochester City School District. M/E Engineering established and published the mechanical and electrical system design standards for the district. M/E Engineering has also volunteered staff to the RCSD Green School Program for the past three years. Over the past 18 years, M/E Engineering has completed over 200 projects for the Rochester City School District, some of which include:

Rochester City School District - Northeast Middle
School and Northeast Elementary School,
Rochester, NY
Heating, ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical design for a new 185,000 Square Foot Northeast Middle School (Dr. Freddie Thomas Learning Center) and 100,0000 Square Foot Northeast Elementary School No. 45. The Middle School project included new gymnasium, exercise room, pool and locker facilities; and included an attached facility for the Lewis Street Center which provided community counseling services. Design included central custom VAV air handling units fed by a 900 ton central plant, hot water boilers, Kitchen/Cafeteria, telephone system, fire alarm system, fiber optic service, computer distribution and Category 5 data distribution.
   

Salamanca City Central School District
Salamanca, NY

Significant reconstruction of the existing Middle/High School, Prospect Elementary and Seneca Elementary Schools.  Features include a ground coupled heat pump system at the Middle/High School.  This system includes a large well field located inside the running track and includes 254 wells, each 350 feet deep which provide the large heat sink for this fully air conditioned building.  Also included are upgrades for direct digital controls, lighting systems, power systems and emergency generators.  Additions include a new classroom wing, multi-purpose room, natatorium, gymnasium and music wing expansion.

   

South Lewis Central School District, Turin, NY

 

Various renovations including a wood chip boiler.  The plant will be located in its own building, the Bio-Mass Boiler Plant.  The plant will provide heat and domestic hot water to the Middle/High School, Bus Garage and for the future expansions at the Middle High School.  The system is sized to provide 12.5   million btuh of heat based on 30 to 35% moisture content of wood chips.  The project also includes emergency generators at all four schools, fire alarm upgrades, security and technology system upgrades and high school pool filter replacement.

   
Starpoint Central School District, Lockport, NY

The project included renovations to approximately 240,000 SF of the existing school complex and an addition of 220,000 SF for a new High School. This work included new HVAC, power, IT, lighting, security systems, fire protection, plumbing and an energy management and control system. The new High School addition included classrooms, gymnasium, science labs, kitchen, cafeteria, locker rooms, auditorium, large group instruction room, media center and building support areas. The renovations included upgrades to the Middle and Elementary Schools including the pool, gymnasium, auditorium, kitchen, cafeteria, classrooms and office areas. New work also included electrical systems and drainage for the new Athletic Fields and Concession Building.



   
Wellsville Central School District - Middle/High
Schools, Wellsville, NY

Modifications to the existing Middle School/High School for code compliance and program changes. Upgrades included general classroom upgrades for lighting, heating, and communications; new building wide fire alarm system, new computer classrooms and expansion of the Media Center.

 


Whitney Point Central School District - 2005
Capital Improvement Plan,
Whitney Point, NY

Various Renovations at all Three Schools.

Renovations at the Elementary School included Toilet Room Renovations, Classroom Sinks, Unit Ventilators, Backflow Preventer, Boiler Replacement, Energy Management System, Electrical Panel board Replacement, Fire Alarm System Replacement, Emergency Generator, Pool Reconstruction and Security System

Renovations at the Middle School included Science Room Renovations, Gym Renovations, Fire Alarm system Upgrades, Emergency Lighting, Security System and Lighting Upgrades.

Renovations at the High School included Toilet Room Renovations, Science and Math Wing Renovations, Boiler Replacement, Unit Ventilators, Gym Ventilation and Air Conditioning, Auditorium Ventilation and Air Conditioning, Cafeteria Ventilation and Air Conditioning, Energy Management System, Fire Alarm Upgrades, Security System, and Wireless Clock System.




   

Wilson Central School District - Capital Projects
Wilson, NY

Additions and renovations for various capital improvements district wide, from 1998 through 2006.  Renovations including complete heating system replacements, lighting and data communications upgrades at Thomas Marks Elementary, Stevenson Elementary and the High/Middle School.  Upgrade of High School HVAC system including replacement of existing steam heating system with hot water.  System is designed to accommodate future dual temperature air conditioning.  Study of High School fire alarm and heating systems for evaluation and recommendations for upgrades to systems age and code compliance.  Mechanical and electrical design for alterations to the Computer Labs, Music Department, Counseling Department and Football Field Lighting.
