Design of a new 300 Bed Skilled Nursing Facility located in the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus adjacent to Buffalo General Hospital. The facility is a complete replacement of the Deaconess and Millard Fillmore Gates Hospital beds, which allowed for a more modern facility, and consolidation in accordance with the state mandate and ranks as one of the largest nursing homes in the region.
Nursing beds include four connected structures with 20-bed clusters of semi-private rooms and courtyards on each of four floors. It will consist of 200 long-term care beds, 40 beds for patients with memory impairment, 30 beds for short-term patients rehabilitating from hospital care, 20 beds for children with profound disabilities and 10 beds for residents on ventilators.
Complete design of mechanical and electrical systems for this Skilled Nursing Facility which includes a high efficiency heating hot water system, high efficiency chiller plant, air-to-air heat recovery, 2 pipe valance system for resident rooms, medical gases, and emergency power.
Create a facility which will provide a homelike environment while maintaining state-of-the-art systems. The design followed Green Building philosophies incorporating energy conservation measures and received incentives from NYSERDA to help offset capital investment and maintain budgets.
