Monroe Community College
This multi-phased $26M project included renovations and additions to the Campus Center but also a new medium voltage substation. The campus had outgrown their original 4.16kV utility service and needed more capacity. As part of this upgrade the campus changed their service to a 34.5kV for lower utility distribution charges. The new paralleled and redundant 5.6MVA, 34.5 - 4.16kV transformers provide the needed campus capacity. Additional underground 4.16kV circuits were added to supply the campus new 800 ton medium voltage chillers. The existing 4.16kV system was back fed with the new. The new substation included primary metering, room for future expansion and low impedance ground mat.
