Buffalo Heritage Carousel

Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation

This iconic attraction at Buffalo’s Canalside showcases a fully restored, all-wood 1924 carousel in an environmentally controlled, solar-powered building. Designed to educate and inspire through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) programming, the facility highlights the role of renewable energy by using solar panels donated by Tesla embedded directly into the roof tiles to power the carousel.

The building features high-efficiency lighting, a sustainable HVAC system, and dedicated space for educational activities and special events. This unique project blends historic preservation with modern green technology to create a one-of-a-kind waterfront destination.
