Sahlen Field Electrical Upgrades

City of Buffalo

Home to the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons and the Minor League Affiliate of the Major League Toronto Blue Jays, Sahlen Field is one of the largest and most historic ballparks in Minor League Baseball. The park is one of the top non-MLB parks to host Major League games and hosts a variety of concerts, events, and festivals. Given the facility's active event schedule, all work required close coordination with facility operations and the utility provider to ensure power to the ballpark was maintained at all times during the upgrades.

Electrical upgrades were made to replace the two (2) recloser switches within the stadium’s main electrical switchgear that supplies power to the ballpark. These switches play a critical role in protecting the facility’s electrical system by automatically interrupting power in the event of transient faults (e.g. electrical surges) are detected to protect connected equipment. Engineering support services for the project included design, onsite construction observations, post construction review, and system operation confirmation.
