Our offices will remain under the same leadership, and our clients can continue to expect the same team and level of service. As M/E and Salas O’Brien work together, we believe clients will benefit from our combined expertise and geographic reach.
Located at the historic western terminus of the Erie Canal, the Longshed building is home to the Buffalo Maritime Center’s three-year boatbuilding project and educational visitor experience. Inside, a hand-built canal boat is taking shape, while the interactive Waterway of Change exhibit immerses visitors in Buffalo’s Erie Canal story through multimedia displays, artifacts, and interpretive elements that celebrate the region’s cultural and industrial heritage.
The building features a full-length main floor, mezzanine, public restrooms, roll-up doors, and a covered porch overlooking the Canalside Great Lawn. Engineering systems were designed to support both current and future tenants, offering flexibility for changing uses. The HVAC design includes radiant floor heating, a boiler system, and heat recovery ventilation, with infrastructure for a future VRF system. Electrical systems include lighting controls, power distribution, fire alarm, and security. Plumbing and fire protection systems were designed for adaptability, including wet and dry sprinkler systems for interior and exterior coverage.
