The University at Albany’s Emerging Technology and Entrepreneurship Complex (ETEC) is a state-of-the-art research and academic facility, and one of the University’s largest and most energy-efficient buildings. The complex houses the nation’s first College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security, and Cybersecurity, as well as the Departments of Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences and the Atmospheric Sciences Research Center. Designed to accommodate over 200 faculty, 100 research and industry partners, and 800 students, ETEC combines classrooms, laboratories, business incubator spaces, and specialized research facilities to encourage innovation and collaboration.
Full commissioning services were performed to ensure the all-electric facility met all operational, sustainability, and LEED requirements. This included the development of commissioning plans and checklists, design reviews, and test procedures, as well as overseeing indoor air quality performance, system performance operations, site visits, and final reporting.
Since its completion, ETEC has earned LEED Platinum certification, the highest level of recognition from the U.S. Green Building Council, and was awarded Green Building of the Year in 2023.
