Irondequoit Community Center

Town of Irondequoit

The former long-abandoned Irondequoit Mall was transformed into a much-needed community center. A gymnasium, walking track, teen activity room, turf play area, and fitness center have all been incorporated into the space, along with utilities for group exercise programs. The center also now contains a Pre-K classroom, “tot drop,” kitchen & cafeteria, and lounge space, with other rooms situated for meetings, community engagement, and more.

M/E provided design and on-site coordination with the former mall’s existing utilities infrastructure, turning a once-neglected space into an operative, safe, and dynamic environment suited for wellness, education, and recreation for groups of all ages. The center’s new layout was also designed with future development of the remaining, unused mall space in mind.
