This transformative mixed-use development in the heart of downtown Buffalo encompasses 201 affordable housing units, a fresh food market, and expanded mobility options. Featured as the city's “Mobility Hub Project," it was made possible by zoning changes that removed parking minimums to prioritize walkability, public transit, and ride-hailing access. The apartment building also offers ADA-adaptable units, community and fitness rooms, indoor bike storage, outdoor spaces, and a public mural by local artist Josef Kristofoletti.
To support the project's overall energy efficiency goals and secure Energy Star certification, energy modeling and sustainability services were provided from the design phase through construction. Detailed inspections of the HVAC, ventilation, lighting, and low flow plumbing systems ensured proper installation and performance optimization.
Post-construction simulation models confirmed the building performs 30% better than NYS Energy Code requirements for source energy use. These efforts helped deliver a high-efficiency, resilient building that reflects the project’s commitment to affordability, mobility, health & wellness, and vibrancy within the community.
