This $29 million Student Recreation and Special Events Center (SERC) is the central hub for the students at SUNY Brockport and a key recruitment tool for the campus. The facility features the multi-use “House of Fields” event space with seating for up to 8,000, as well as an indoor track, fitness center, weight room, and staff offices. It supports a wide range of campus activities from athletics and academics to concerts, special events, and commencement ceremonies.
Full HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems were designed to support the facility’s diverse functions. Systems included a full-capacity ice storage system, enabling the building to meet cooling demands during off-peak hours while reducing chiller size and lowering installation costs. This significantly enhanced energy efficiency for the college, earning a LEED Silver award from the U.S. Green Building Council.
