Madden Center for Global Learning

Canisius High School

The Madden Center at Canisius High School is a new multi-functional digital media space at the school, able to host global learning seminars, guest lecturers, social events, fundraisers, and extracurricular activities. The project included an immersive video wall screen, custom LED stock ticker display, programmable lighting, a room-sensing microphone array and built-in PLTZ cameras.

Mechanical and electrical engineering design was provided for the HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems. This included a new air handling unit with energy recovery and energy management system, storm water drainage plus power, lighting and fire alarm system upgrades. For the HVAC system design, special attention was given to air distribution along the exterior glass wall in order to prevent condensation and manage heat transfer. Diffuser and lighting layouts were carefully coordinated with the roof’s structural steel to help achieve this result.
