Terrace View Long Term Care Facility

Erie County Medical Center

Part of the ECMC Health Campus, Terrace View is a 390-bed skilled nursing facility designed to provide long-term care and subacute rehabilitation services. The construction of the new complex fully replaced the Erie County Home and now ranks among the largest nursing homes in the region. The facility is organized into four connected structures, with 20-bed clusters surrounding courtyards on each floor to create a more residential, patient-centered environment.

Terrace View accommodates a wide range of specialized care needs, including long-term care (268 beds), memory care (16 beds), short-term rehabilitation (66 beds), pediatric care for children with profound disabilities (20 beds), ventilator support (20 beds), and a behavioral intervention unit.

The facility design followed Green Building principles and incorporated energy conservation measures, earning NYSERDA incentives to help manage costs. M/E Engineering provided full design for mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical systems, including expansion of central heating and chilled water plants, air-to-air heat recovery, two-pipe valance systems for resident rooms, medical gases, and emergency power. These measures contributed to significant annual reductions in energy use and operating costs.
