We are excited to announce that M/E Engineering has joined Salas O’Brien, effective October 2025. Our offices will remain under the same leadership, and our clients can continue to expect the same team and level of service. M/E Engineering led the replacement of the high-pressure steam boiler serving Buffalo General Hospital, Oishei Children’s Hospital, Gates Vascular Institute, and the University at Buffalo. The new “O”-style water-tube boiler doubles capacity to 60,000 lb/hr while improving efficiency, reliability, and emissions.
The project included design of the boiler, feedwater system, stack economizer, controls, exhaust, and blowdown heat recovery. Energy-saving features reduce fuel use and emissions, and dual-fuel capability provides backup with No. 2 oil. M/E coordinated structural, architectural, and civil design, worked closely with contractors, and assisted with NYSDEC air permit updates.
