Mercy Hospital of Buffalo expanded its facility with a new $5.1 million MRI Suite, featuring a Siemens 3T Magnetom Skyra MRI scanner, state-of-the-art control room, outpatient waiting areas, and supporting office space. The two-story addition also includes shell space for future growth.
Design services included HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, electrical, and medical systems, along with advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling. Given the suite’s proximity to the Emergency Department helipad, ambulance drop-off, emergency generator exhaust, and facility dumpster, CFD analysis was critical to ensure contaminant-free air intake for patient safety. Additional design services included relocating the ED’s primary electrical service and modifying the snowmelt system at the ambulance entrance.
