SUNY Morrisville invested $16 million in its new Agricultural and Clean Energy Technology (ACET) Center to expand hands-on learning for its renewable energy, agricultural engineering, and diesel technology programs. The facility features state-of-the-art labs and shops, including wind, solar, hydro, biofuels, and thermal energy labs, a diesel technology garage, and heavy equipment instructional spaces
M/E Engineering conducted initial studies to select HVAC systems suited to the building’s Net Zero goals and provided full mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design. New HVAC systems with VAVs, radiant in-floor heating, and high-bay exhaust and make-up air systems were incorporated. For the sustainable building, an 85 kW photovoltaic solar array was integrated to support Net Zero goals and includes a real-time lobby display to monitor energy production for students. This PV system will be an integral live teaching tool for students in the renewable energy field.
