Over the years, the Goodyear Mansion & Residences has undergone several transformations, including a period as an educational institution. The property is a historic landmark originally built in 1903 as a private home for the Goodyear family. Today, it has been fully converted into 49 high-end apartment units across the main house, former school addition and adjacent carriage house.
As part of balancing historic preservation with modern building performance, MEP/FP systems were designed to support residential use while still maintaining its architectural integrity. Gas-fired furnaces, air-cooled condensing units, heat recovery units, and gravity radiators were fully integrated. Domestic water systems, sanitary waste, vent piping, and natural gas distribution were reconfigured to suit the building’s new layout and use.
Designed with delivering comfortable, code-compliant residences in one of Buffalo’s most iconic neighborhoods, electrical upgrades included new power distribution, lighting, telephone, data, TV cabling, along with major security enhancements for audio/visual entry and IP surveillance. The building is fully protected by a wet-pipe automatic fire sprinkler system, fire alarms, and an in-building radio system for direct communication with the local fire department.
