We are excited to announce that M/E Engineering has joined Salas O’Brien, effective October 2025. Our offices will remain under the same leadership, and our clients can continue to expect the same team and level of service. As M/E and Salas O’Brien work together, we believe clients will benefit from our combined expertise and geographic reach.
The Physical Sciences Building (PSB) provides a mix of flex laboratories and office space to accommodate a wide variety of physics, computational, and synthetic chemistry research. At 95,000 square feet spread across three flexible levels, the building is designed to be reconfigured many times over its life to serve evolving research needs.
As part of the project, the existing West Experiment Station (WES) was disassembled, relocated, and rebuilt on a brand new foundation. Interior renovations to the WES increased its usable space by 50%. The rehabilitated structure now houses 20 faculty and graduate student offices from the departments of Physics and Chemistry. Interior bridges connect the Physical Sciences Building to the WES and neighboring Goessmann Laboratory.
Full commissioning services were provided for the new academic research facility, ensuring all building systems met design intent and performance requirements. Systems commissioned included HVAC units, air handling and heat recovery systems, ventilation and exhaust fans, lighting and lighting controls, domestic water, fire alarm, and emergency systems.
