Salamanca City Central School District
Design & Reconstruction
Significant reconstruction of the existing Middle/High School, Prospect Elementary and Seneca Elementary Schools. Features include a ground coupled heat pump system at the Middle/High School. This system features a large well field located inside the running track and includes 254 wells, each 350 feet deep which provide the large heat sink for this fully air conditioned building. Also included are upgrades for direct digital controls, lighting systems, power systems and emergency generators. Additions include a new classroom wing, multi-purpose room, natatorium, gymnasium and music wing expansion.
The Design Team faced several challenges during the design of this project. The project faced an unexpected cost increase due to the market instability caused by the devastating hurricanes in the southeast and their immediate effect on construction material costs. Also, the project was completed on sovereign Indian land which required specific workforce modifications to be compliant with existing treaties.
