Center for Lifelong Learning - LEED Certified Platinum
Construction of an 88,000 SF private K-12 school for handicapped and special needs students, including autistic children. Building also includes indoor swimming pool and water park. Design included a 196 ton ground source geothermal system consisting of 185 wells, 300 feet deep and a 100KW photovoltaic system. This project is LEED certified to the Platinum level.
HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design. Mechanical modeling and lifecycle cost analysis to support the mechanical portion of the LEED verification process.
Building modeling was utilized to investigate various HVAC and electrical systems, including VAV, dedicated outdoor air, ground source heat pumps, photovoltaics and daylight harvesting. The most energy efficient system was determined through this building modeling and used.
Regular communications were maintained with the on-site construction manager and multiple site visits were made to monitor construction. Coordination with the commissioning agent was conducted to make sure that the building was constructed as designed.
